I am interested in the tulipiere as a symbol of wealth and class. Originally used in Holland in the 14th century, individuals would display their status by showcasing their tulip collection in these vessels. The tulipiere intrigued potters and became just as beautiful as the tulips they held. In my process, I start by mimicking the original historic form and then let it evolve to become an abstracted version. My tulipieres are non-functional and meant to be a contemplative metaphors for status and wealth.
