Peep Show is an exhibition that takes place in Uptown’s Castle Marne Bed & Breakfast, an 1889 Historic Landmark building turned family-owned inn. Twelve Denver-based artists have created experimental artworks that respond to the building’s psychological underpinnings as a place for honeymooners, tourists and architectural enthusiasts.
Inspired by the architectural motif, the green man, found on the fireplace at Castle Marne, the installation The Green Woman expands the concept of this historically male dominated symbol to focus on a new vegetative deity, a fictitious woman/peacock/butterfly hybrid. The dining room table reflects an event of the past - a performance, a ceremony, a meal - nature feeds on the objects and materials emphasizing the cyclical process of nature.
